Tigers:

Two years ago today, I had the privilege of joining Towson University as your president. As I begin my third year leading our university, it remains both the greatest honor and the most important responsibility I have had over the course of my career.

My wife Elaine and I have grown to truly admire TU. It’s a place committed to the success, learning and development of every member of our community. A place where dreams are not only envisioned, but where they can come true. A special place that is made so because it is a place with such special people.

My first year was focused on listening—seeking to understand TU’s history and the issues that mattered most to our community. I embarked on an extensive listening tour, meeting with nearly 2,500 students, faculty, staff and alumni to learn about your perspectives and goals for the future.

This helped to inform the 10 presidential priorities that I announced on my first anniversary as president—initiatives that serve as a blueprint for TU’s next era. In the year since, we have made progress toward the achievement of these goals. We launched our next strategic enrollment plan, expanded mental health resources for students, increased our research expenditures and solidified our place as Maryland’s top public university—to name but a few.

As I enter year three, I am committed to building on this momentum as we refine our goals to ensure TU’s continued ascension. This includes enhanced support for student success, growing our enrollment mix, elevating TU’s reputation, differentiating TU through innovative new approaches, and simplifying our processes to optimize efficiency. We will plant these “seeds” for future growth, watching TU blossom in the process.

Together, as we stand on the shoulders of giants, we collectively push our university to new heights. It is our moment. It is TU’s time.

Thank you for two wonderful years at Towson University. I look forward to all we will continue to accomplish together.

All the best, and GO TIGERS!
