ran across this client from wtrproofing lead,,, wtr proofing's easy enuff BUT ( there's always 1, right ? ) he also wants flood-proof acid-stain on the floor,,, serious crks 'cause of no jnts ( not a problem ),,, crk in conc wall ( hydrophyllic polyurethane crk injection = done ! ).

floor's ' wavy ' to about 3/4" ( hills 'n' valleys ),,, local cti guy sez mapei ( don't remember mapei being structural & then there's the major crks )& acid stain,,, i'm thinking a decent grind, eC's tf, then tex pave stamp mix, follow'd by acid should do the trick.

seem to recall forum notes re acid/mapei not being congratulatory/satisfactory,,, what are we missing - anything ? ? ?

Hi John,

May I suggest another option?

After preping the floor, install a self leveling concrete (Param 5500) at 3/4" and dye the surface. You can create an acid stain look with a dye. This is faster and less expensive option. If you 'have to' acid stain, we recommend applying a very thin layer (1/16") of Sgraffino over Param 5500. Please let me know if you need more information.

Cheers!

John is any overlay material structural? Nothin I know of unless solid reinforced concrete overlay..I know what your getting at though.

Sounds like one of those jobs the customer is going to want you to apply some miracle mix that will fix everything and never crack... Dont let Harry know about this one if you dont have them sign off on some detailed paper work :)

"I told you so's" suck
