 Cell phone service

I am so sick of my Nextel having such a crappy signal and dropping calls I want to change service. Has anyone switched for the better?
I was thinking AT&T with the I-Phone but the phone looks fragile.
The ALL-tel with my circle may be less expensive but I do not know. With Nextel I have unlimited everything. I average about 3,500 talk minutes a month an no telling with the walkie talkie.
What are you guys using that you are happy with?

I have tried 5 different cell phone companies over the years, none of them being any better than the one's I had previously. They all drop calls, they all have dead spots somewhere (where you "can't hear me now"), plans differ but basically it all comes out about the same in the wash, and in my opinion they are all necessary evils that we MUST have in order to remain accessible to our customers and carry on business as usual.

I would like to "kidnap" the "can you hear me now guy," take him out to my property in the country ...where I can't get a signal at the bottom of he hill/valley at our stables, but can climb up to the top of the hill, and on a good day (if the planets are properly aligned) I can get a signal up there for a short period of time before my calls get dropped. I would not hold him hostage for long, only long enough for him to call me, asking me to release him... in order to make my point that they don't get a signal everywhere as they alude to being able to do in all their advertising. I would also like to put him in the back seat of my truck ... use the child proof locks so he can't escape... then take him for a drive up I-35 north between Waco/TX and Dallas/TX where there is a dead spot that lasts about 1 mile (if you are on the phone in this area, with every cell phone company I have had, you will get your call dropped).

I feel you pain as to dropped calls, temporary loss of signal, etc. .. but there is no "magic bullet" provider that I have been able to find. Good luck in your quest for one though.

Most people say there phone bill dropped when they left Nextel but the same story you are tellling with poor reception.

My Nextels are so bad at times I can not even two way my employees when they are beside me in the same truck. Sometimes my has "NO Service" and they will have a full signal. It gets very frustrating.

Thanks Lindy.

I saw a news release/commercial about talking all you want on Verison (24 hours a day, 7 days a week)... no more concerns about weekends versus weekdays or time (like after 7:00pm); to anyone (none of that my circle stuff or only to those on Verison).

I haven't had Version for a few years, so I can't attest personally to their universal/everywhere signal quality or drop calls in current times ... but I am not going to make any more changes until a sales representative from prospective cell phone carrier makes a trip out to my country place and proves to me that they can get a good/lasting signal out in the boondocks. If they can I will switch in a Texas minute.

others beside verizon announc'd those plans,,, interestingly enuff, their stock prices fell accordingly,,, imo, that made 'em a better buy.

think its approx 15% of the us that relies on cellular rather'n traditional phonelines.

there are & will always be some areas where cell service's limited - either population, air traffic, geography, etc,,, 1 could always buy a sat phone if commo's that critical.
