I am thinking about getting into professional epoxy flooring (more than garages), airplane hangars, medical facilities, ect. Can anyone recommend a good product line to take on?

if you're thinking about doing big jobs like that, you'd better do your own research and a lot of it. there's big liability involved in large epoxy flooring projects.

even if you were to get recommendations here, you'd be foolish to take them. what works for one person or situation may not work for another. and who knows what their sales and distribution network may be like where you live.

get one of the annual product directories from coatings pro magazine, concrete decor, journal of architectural concrete, concrete surfaces magazine, or world of concrete. pick out the types of epoxies you want to use, then start looking at the web sites of the suppliers and making calls.

otherwise, you're going to run into big problems. it could be with product quality, pricing, availability, tech support, any one or more of a number of potential problem areas.

Having specialized in chimerical/industrial flooring for over 25 years, I can attest to the fact that this can be a very lucrative business to enter into. There is an ongoing need/market for professionals in this industry ... ie: it's not a case of do we want it as in residential market, it is more a case of we need it to shield/protect our floors/surfaces from the routine use, chemicals, and environment they will be subjected to.

Not only is the proven performance history of the epoxy or other high tech coating selected for use and readily available technical support of manufacturer of extreme importance... but, of equal importance is the insight and ability to judge type of prep work necessary in order to obtain a surface that is free of all foreign matter that may impede bonding. Of course, you must have done your homework in relation to substrate profiling in order assure to achieve maximum mechanical and adhesive bond as well.

In certain cases, the commercial property owner, must be led toward the type of coating that will best serve their needs; as a professional you will need to have done your homework as to the different types and physical properties of epoxies, aliphatic urethane's, and polyaspartic aliphatic polyureas.

Suggest you start out with small projects (perhaps a 500-1000 sq.ft.) to hone your skills (as to prep work and product application). Many industrial/commercial floors specify that continuous epoxy cove bases of 4" to 6" be installed along all floor/wall junctions to allow for ease in cleaning/sanitation (eliminating all 90 degree wall/floor junctions)... it takes a lot of practice to pull a continuous cove base; which is why a manufactured cove base product "speed cove" has become so popular (speed cove can be stained, dyed, coated with epoxies, etc.); although it also takes practice, you can install "sped cove," which even has inside and outside corners, where it has a seamless appearance.

Continue to look into this new business venture, doing your homework. If possible, it would be a good plan of action to see if you can apprentice under a professional industrial flooring contractor out of your general market area, or go out on some real/out in the field job's (not on a small area in a perfect world warehouse) being done by manufacturer of products you are considering using for "hands-on" experience.

Good luck. If I can help shed any more light on the subject drop me a PM or email.

Look into Valspar Flooring, National Polymers and if you become an Authorized Contractor with Tennant they have salesmen for your area.
