I have seen it done both ways - is there any benefit to wet grinding other than limiting the dust?

there are alot nowadays that make good dry pads. When I first started using them I was stuck with crap. Just look into the companies that make diamonds for floor grinding.

Granquartz has some awesome 5" dry pads called erasors which are good for the first few steps of grinding without having to use any metal tooling.

For polishing...there are a ton of good ones out there.

Dry grinding is fine if you have the ability to capture the silica dust created.

I go with this option.

Anyone that tells you this is easy and you won't get dirty or wet is lost. Oh yeah for those that don't like to get dirty or wet consider a new line of work.
