 Stain over stone veneer fireplace?

 I am renovating a 30 year old house with a stone veneer fireplace, what can I do, short of painting it to give it a whitewash/light grey overtone and reduce the orange/rust overtones of the stones and grout. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks, Derek

 Demo and replace is probably your best bet, by the time all is said and done.
