In a sealer mess, help fast!!!!!!!!

I've read this board for months, and I really think I know what I'm doing, but I got lead astray by a distributor salesperson. This is what I've done: Remodel job on basement floor(ours). Cleaned off vinyl glue, cleaned with machine, black pad, two coats of chemtone rusty brown, neutralized with soda and mopped and wet vaccumed 4 times, till clear, looked beautiful and let dry,dry and dry 5 days with heat on. Loved the deep rich color when wet. Got the solvent based sealer 30%, brought it home and almost put it on. Then read the label and saw \"exterior only\". Called the sales guy back, and he said don't use that, \"very dangerous inside\", people here in Springfield, Mo. use Vocomp-20, a waterbased acrylic, inside and works great. So went back and got that and put it on,even though I had second thoughts, and my floor looks like hell. The color is pale, much lighter than the way the water looked on it. Very blotchy, more than the usual varriation. So now what do I do? Only did this to one room, one coat and don't want to continue with this sealer the rest of the job. Will another coat of this waterbased acrylic improve things or will that be just double trouble? Got 900 more sq. ft. to go. Husband said when he came home. \" What happened? This doens't look like it did when it was wet!\" Should I have used the solvent based 30% even though it says for exterior only? With only a couple of weeks of open window weather left, I've got to move fast!. Will I have to buff off the waterbased sealer with a machine/black pad and xylene? Spec. sheet says to use xylene or toluene. Does that stuff stink too? If I do buff off, will I have to apply more stain and will it \"take\"? I'm in a mess. Husband says, \"We'll get used to it.\" But I'm not happy with it. I've seen lots of places done, and I know what's it's supposed to look like, I'd like to get this problem fixed myself, because husband has to run the machine, it takes off across the room with me. If I could get that up myself without a machine, would be great. My husband and I have been in the home building business for 25 years, and I'm not going to let this acid stain job make me nuts. Please respond all you pros. Thanks!

Hey Art, I also have a sealer question. I did half of my basement floor using the blue stain and then the regular Hard Bright Sealer. (In stages because I need to move things around). I'm in an attached row house and people 3 doors down were knocking on my door to see why it smelled so bad. It looks fantastic, but I nearly died putting the stuff on (doors wide open, respirator on). Hope my cats still have some brain cells left--no kitty respirators.

At any rate, I'm wondering if the low VOC or another less stinky Decosup sealer will achieve the same effect (literally, exactly the same, since I stopped halfway through the room and don't want one side to look different).

I did a test patch with the milky white sealer you get at Lowe's, but it just made my blue green look pale and yukky. It was fine as a second coat over the smelly stuff, but not as a first coat.

Any advice on this?
