President’s Inclusive Leadership Institute

A professional development program for senior TU faculty and staff that fosters personal development, interdisciplinary collaborations and a strong connection to the campus community.

Established in 1996, the President's Inclusive Leadership Institute offers intensive, year-long leadership programs for faculty, department chairs and administrative staff.

Program Focus

  • Interdisciplinary faculty and staff interaction, leadership concepts and experiences, and interaction with leaders on and off campus.
  • Each class begins and ends its program with off-campus retreats and participates in one full-day session each month throughout the academic year.
  • Inclusive Leadership Institute members commit their time, energy, ideas and enthusiasm to the program and come away with leadership skills, expanded university contacts and friends that last a lifetime.

Program Participation

  • Faculty and staff members are selected to participate in the program each year through their respected Deans or Vice Presidents.
  • Staff classes are comprised of between 20-25 members and run from October until June.
  • Faculty classes are comprised of between 20-25 members and run from October until April.

Teamwork and bonding take place during the challenging case studies and discussions. But it isn't all work! Current members join with program alumni for networking lunches, athletic games and volunteer projects. The President's Inclusive Leadership Institute enables faculty and staff to forge a strong connection to TU, their co-workers, and all the communities we serve as an institution.

PILI Midpoint Survey

  • 30% of the responses indicated satisfaction with the overall institute, monthly presenters, and presentations.
  • Participants thought that the off-campus site visits provided a more experiential opportunity to engage with county officials and other government, NFP, faculty, staff, and students.
