Dance Company

The Dance Company's fall and spring performances showcases new works and restaged works by Towson University faculty and renowned guest artists, such as Paul Taylor, Alonzo King, Larry Keigwin, Jawole Willa Jo Zollar, David Parsons, Dana Tai Soon Burgess, Maria Torres, Mark Dendy, Darrell Grand Moutrie and Gus Solomons.


The Towson University Dance Company, founded in 1972, produces quality theatrical dance concerts, educates diverse audiences, and provides professional-level performing experiences to its company members.

The Dance Company, an elective course, holds auditions twice a year. Company members include students in the professional-level B.F.A. in Dance Performance and Choreography program as well as TU students in other programs who are exemplary dancers.

Dance Company Audition 

  • Contact the Dance Department for information on company auditions.
  • Dance majors and non-dance majors exhibiting advanced ballet and modern dance training are invited to participate. 
  • Auditioning does not guarantee acceptance into the Dance Company. Auditioning is a skill and the experience is part of the dance major's education.

Dance Company â€“ Structure and Time

Dance Company is a two-course combo as seen below. These two courses are taught back-to-back for a continuous and rigorous technique and company experience. All Dance Company Members must take the advanced technique class Mon-Thur as part of the rigorous Dance Company technical and performing experience. B.F.A in Dance Performance and Choreography majors should also be enrolled in a second technique course during their Dance Company semester that allows them to also be dancing in a technique class on Fridays.  Ensuring that the B.F.A in Dance Performance and Choreography major is in a technique class 5 days a week.

Mon-Thur 9:00-10:50am DANC 428 – Modern III or DANC 423- Ballet III
and
Mon-Thur 11:00-11:50am DANC 481 or DANC 383
(You will be assigned one of these courses based on casting.)

  • If and when you are accepted into company you must enroll in two of the courses listed above as assigned for a total of 6 units for that semester. Special permissions will be entered after the audition.
