After-Hours Crisis Support
The Counseling Center is available for same-day appointments during regular hours (Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.) When the Counseling Center is closed, students in crisis who need immediate support can call the Center after-hours, during evenings and weekends, at 410-704-2512. Students who call us after-hours will be connected to speak with a mental health professional by phone through ProtoCall.
What Is an Emergency Service?
Any risk to health or safety certainly qualifies as an emergency, e.g., suicidal thoughts, thoughts of harming others, or difficulties taking care of yourself. There are other reasons as well to seek an emergency appointment, such as being in a lot of distress.
What if the Counseling Center Is Closed?
When the Counseling Center is closed, you still have access to emotional help if you need it by using the resources below:
Protocall
Call the TUCC phone number, 410-704-2512, to get connected to a mental health professional who can provide support from 5pm to 8am.
Mobile Crisis Response Team (MCRT)
MCRT consists of two social workers from the Counseling Center who co-respond with Towson University Police Department (TUPD) officers to campus crises. MCRT offers support to callers by working to de-escalate the situation, connecting the individual to resources, and assessing for safety.
The MCRT can be contacted by calling TUPD at 410-704-4444. TUPD will send out the MCRT with an officer if an MCRT member is on shift and available. Click on this link for more information about the MCRT.
Current hours are: Sunday 12 pm – 8 pm, Monday 12 pm – 8 pm, Tuesday 12 pm – 5 am, Wednesday 12 pm – 5 am, Thursday 9 am – 2 am and Friday 7 pm to 5 am.
Whether you are in crisis or assisting someone who is, the MCRT is here to help.
