Events Example

There are several ways to showcase events on Towson University webpages. From focused 鈥渆vents鈥 pages to an automatic feed of several events to single event callouts, see examples listed below.

Layout for Events on an Existing Page

There are two ways to present events content as a callout on an existing webpage. These examples showcase ways to present an event on a webpage that is not intended to only showcase events but has a more informational purpose, such as a department landing page:

Events Block Snippet

  • Use this 鈥渆vents feed鈥 if you have regular events added to the and want them linked to your landing page through a feed. (Note: you can have an Events Block added to your page that you can manually curate if you prefer.)
  • This snippet can only be used on the bottom of landing pages (i.e., the homepage of your website section).
  • If you manually curate your events, they must be deleted after they have occurred.

Example

The Events Block snippet is a structured content component used to display a list of upcoming events in a clean, consistent layout. It can showcase events that are manually curated or events that are imported as an automated feed from Towson University鈥檚 Master Events calendar.

Designed for ease of scanning, it includes space for event titles, dates, brief descriptions, and optional links to full details. Ideal for department pages, calendars, or news sections, the Events Block helps keep visitors informed about what鈥檚 happening across Towson University while maintaining a user-friendly and accessible design.

Event Update Block Callout

  • Use this callout when you only need to highlight one or two events.
  • Provided events are detailed and clearly explained, this snippet can be used anywhere on most landing pages and internal pages.
  • Events must be deleted after they have occurred; leaving events that already happened makes content look out of date.
  • Consider a feed with an Event Block instead if you have regular events scheduled but do not have time to curate the events on the page.

Example

The Event Update Block Callout snippet is a flexible web component designed to highlight upcoming events in a visually engaging and accessible way. Ideal for promoting lectures, performances, workshops and other campus activities, this snippet allows content editors to feature event titles, dates, descriptions and optional links for more information or registration. Easily adaptable across pages, it helps keep web content timely and relevant while encouraging audience engagement.

Curated Events Pages

Events pages are college-level or department-level events focused webpages. There are a number of requirements for having a single webpage that is entirely focused on the events of a college, department of office:

  • you must have at least four to five events
  • events must be rotated on a regular basis
  • events can not remain stagnant and unchanging for more than one academic term

If you are intending to create an events page and you are not able to meet the above requirements we would recommend using an events snippet. Please contact Digital Strategy, , for a consult on how to get an events page added to your site.

There are several options for an events page, depending on the intended goals and how much information is needed. Two possibilities are:

Repeatable Visual List Block Callout

  • Use the Repeatable Visual List Block Callout when you have at least 3 to 5 events to showcase. You need only brief explanatory text for each event and only one link per event.
  • Use this snippet at the top of an events page after brief introductory text describing the types of events offered by your college, department or office.
  • Events must be deleted after they have occurred; leaving events that already happened makes content look out of date.
  • Consider a feed with an Event Block instead if you have regular events scheduled but do not have time to curate the events on the page.
